Your guide to SSAT test
Premier schools and institutions have limited seats and as a result, would like the most eligible of the students to fill those. However, it is difficult for the institutions to gauge the knowledge of the students because of the varied educational systems and knowledge imparting methods that the various faculties employ. Only if all the students are tested under a uniform assessment module can the actual knowledge levels can be established. SSAT test provides that kind of assessment mediums for all the students and comes with a percentile rating that is widely accepted as a standard across many schools in the country.
SSAT test is based on the modules and syllabi of education that is used in the country and tests the students’ awareness on it. This system gives an even platform on which the students can strive to outdo each other. The SSAT test is categorized into five segments, each one testing a different skill of the students. These are Verbal, Reading, Essay and two segments of quantitative analysis.
Verbal: This segment of the SSAT test is designed to determine the language skills of the students. A set of sixty questions thoroughly test the students on their vocabulary and language skills. The questions are broadly based on analogies and synonyms and the students are given 30 minutes to complete these questions.
Reading: The students are given a set of passages to read and comprehend in this segment of SSAT test and are asked to answer questions that are based out of these passages. The topics can be varied; ranging from fiction to poetry. The comprehension levels are tested in this set of forty questions and the given for completion is 40 minutes.
Essay Writing: A topic is assigned to students, in this segment of SSAT test and they are asked to write an essay. The writing skills, grammar and language skills are tested in this segment and the time duration is 25 minutes. This segment is not included in the overall scoring calculation but a copy of the essay written by the students is forwarded to their respective schools for evaluation.
Quantitative analysis: The students are comprehensively tested on their mathematical abilities. Quantitative testing is divided to two segments of twenty five questions each and the total duration is set at thirty minutes. The students are quizzed on algebra, arithmetic, geometry etc.
